A reporter writing an article for one of the
US's largest daily newspapers would like to speak to someone who has
ended up spending way too much money on using their cell phone while
traveling in Europe.

If you've had this unfortunate experience,
then please let me know and I'll put you in touch with the reporter.

And if you'd like to avoid such an
experience in the future, please visit our multipart series about
the best and lowest
cost ways of using cell phones when traveling

  1. Someone I know (not me personally, of course!), took their AT&T iPhone to the UK. Rather than pay thousands of dollars in international data and call charges, he took the phone to a back alley mobile phone doctor who unlocked the SIM. This friend is now able to use a pay-as-you-go SIM from O2 (one of the local providers, a subsidiary of Telefonica) for £15 a month (about $22) that includes unlimited data, free incoming calls and 15p per minute outbound calls.
